Tauranga Crossing
Powering the Expansion of Tauranga Crossing
The Feisst Electrical team delivered a comprehensive electrical installation at Tauranga Crossing, working alongside Foster Construction to support the continued development of one of the Bay of Plenty’s largest retail destinations.
Specialist teams from Structured Technologies and NPE-Tech also supported the project, delivering the fibre backbone infrastructure and transformer installation required to support the centre’s expansion.
Requiring reliable, scalable electrical infrastructure capable of not only supporting high foot traffic retailers, but also future-proofing tenancy growth for Tauranga Crossing.
The Project Scope Included:- Installation of main switchboards and sub-distribution boards
- Provision of landlord and tenant electrical supply infrastructure
- Electrical fit-outs for Toy World and Farmers Department Store
- General, feature and emergency lighting system installation
- General power and specialist retail electrical supplies
- External and carpark lighting infrastructure
- Testing, commissioning and coordinated project handover documentation
Structured Technologies supported the project by installing the basebuild fibre backbone infrastructure, providing the high-speed connectivity required to support retailers, building systems and future tenancy requirements across the development.
A key component of the project was the installation of a new 1MVA transformer, supplied and installed by NPE-Tech, which increased the shopping centre’s electrical capacity and supported expansion.
This complex electrical design provided clear separation between the landlord's and tenant's services and incorporated energy-efficient lighting across both retail and public areas. Architectural and feature lighting elements were thoughtfully integrated to support the centre's overall design and ensure a great customer experience.
With careful staging and coordination across multiple trades working in tight ceiling spaces, we are proud of our achievement as a Group.
To ensure the project remained on schedule and within the required scope, multiple trades worked after hours and in tight ceiling spaces to complete the job without disrupting tenants and shoppers.
The Result:A future-proof electrical system that will support the future development of Tauranga Crossing and support locals within the ever-growing Tauriko population.
Interesting Fact:Tauranga Crossing’s retail expansion cost $55m and features a new flagship Farmers Department Store, along with other specialty stores, to meet the needs of the growing Tauriko community and increased shopper volume.
